Over 40 years of woodworking, craftsmanship and working with natural materials across Canada and Australia.

I've spent more than four decades working with timber, tools and natural materials.

Over that time, I've learned that good craftsmanship isn't simply about knowing how to use a tool. It's about understanding the material you're working with, recognising its character, respecting its limitations and knowing when to let the material guide you.

That philosophy sits at the heart of everything I create today.

Handcrafted by Randy’s Woodworking is the foundation of my work, but over the years it has grown into something much broader—a collection of creative paths that bring together woodworking, natural material care, carved stone, symbolism, folklore and my personal connection with nature.

This is the story behind those creations.

More Than a Workshop

Across my work—Handcrafted by Randy’s Woodworking, Randy’s Reezwax, Randy’s Ritual Forge and Randy’s Runestone Forge—there is a common thread:

A deep respect for nature, craftsmanship and the materials I work with.

Wood, stone, wax, leather, metal and other natural elements all have their own character.

They carry texture, imperfections, history and a sense of place.

I don't see those imperfections as something that needs to be hidden. They are often what makes a piece interesting.

A knot in a piece of timber might become the face of a wood spirit.

A crack might become part of the character of a carving.

The shape of a stone might suggest a symbol or design.

Sometimes the best creations happen when I stop trying to make the material conform to an idea and instead allow the material to influence what the piece becomes.

Handcrafted by Randy’s Woodworking

With more than 40 years of woodworking experience across Canada and Australia, woodworking remains the foundation of everything I do.

My experience has included carpentry, cabinet making, shopfitting, joinery, wood carving and artistic design.

That experience has taught me how timber behaves—how it bends, cracks, changes, ages and reveals its character over time.

But craftsmanship isn't only about technical skill.

It's also about patience.

It's about knowing when to remove more material and when to leave it alone.

It's about understanding that a handmade piece doesn't need to be perfectly uniform to be beautiful.

Every creation I make is approached individually, with an emphasis on quality, character, durability and natural beauty.

I don't mass-produce my work.

I make things one piece at a time.

And because I work with natural materials, no two pieces will ever be exactly the same.

The Spirit of the Wood

I've always been fascinated by the old stories and traditions that describe spirits, guardians and characters living within the natural world.

My interest in Viking history, northern folklore, mythology and the symbolism of ancient cultures has become an important influence on my creative work.

This can be seen particularly in my wood spirits and carved creations.

When I look at a piece of timber, I don't always see a blank canvas.

Sometimes I see a face.

Sometimes I see a creature.

Sometimes the natural shape of the wood seems to suggest something that was already there.

My role is simply to reveal it.

That idea has become an important part of how I approach my work:

I don't always create the character. Sometimes I discover it.

Randy’s Reezwax

Randy’s Reezwax grew from the practical side of my experience working with timber and leather.

I've always believed that good things should be cared for.

Furniture, tools, timber, leather and handmade objects can often last for many years when they are properly maintained.

Reezwax was developed as a handcrafted wood and leather balm designed to nourish, protect and revive natural materials.

It represents a simple philosophy that runs through my entire workshop:

Respect the material. Look after what you make. Keep good things in use.

For me, Reezwax isn't separate from my woodworking.

It is an extension of it.

Randy’s Ritual Forge

Randy’s Ritual Forge represents another side of my creativity.

Here, woodworking and natural materials meet symbolism, folklore, mythology and personal ritual.

I work with materials such as wood, wax, crystals, candles and other natural elements to create pieces that are intended to have atmosphere, character and meaning.

My inspiration comes from old traditions, folklore and the human fascination with the natural world and the unseen.

These pieces may be used for personal ritual, meditation, reflection or simply enjoyed as unusual works of handcrafted art.

There is no single meaning that I expect someone to take from them.

What a piece means to you is ultimately your own story.

For me, this work is not about religion or doctrine.

It is about connection, intention, symbolism and respect for the natural world.

Randy’s Runestone Forge

Randy’s Runestone Forge explores my fascination with stone, carving and ancient symbolism.

Inspired by Viking runes, northern traditions and the enduring stories attached to carved symbols, I create pieces that explore ideas such as strength, guidance, protection, reflection and connection.

Stone is very different from timber.

It is heavier.

It is harder.

It demands patience.

And its natural imperfections become part of the finished creation.

I enjoy that process of taking something shaped by the earth and giving it another form through human hands.

The result is something that can feel ancient and timeless, even though it has been created today.

Each piece is unique, with its own weight, texture, markings and character.

The Connection Between It All

Although these four collections are different, they are all connected.

Woodworking is where my craftsmanship began.

Reezwax grew from my desire to preserve and care for natural materials.

Ritual Forge allows me to explore symbolism, folklore and personal meaning.

Runestone Forge allows me to explore stone, carving and ancient imagery.

Together, they represent different parts of the same creative journey.

At the centre of that journey is my relationship with the natural world.

My Philosophy

At the heart of everything I create is a simple belief:

Nature is not separate from craft—it is the source of it.

Wood and stone are shaped by time.

Trees carry the history of seasons, weather and growth.

Stone carries the marks of the earth.

Leather, wax and other natural materials change and develop their own character as they are used and cared for.

As a craftsman, I don't want to erase that history.

I want to work with it.

I want to reveal it.

And I want the finished piece to retain something of the material it came from.

That's why I value natural imperfections.

That's why I don't try to make every piece identical.

And that's why handmade matters to me.

Why I Make

After more than 40 years of working with my hands, I still enjoy the process of taking something raw and turning it into something meaningful.

I enjoy the challenge.

I enjoy the uncertainty.

I enjoy discovering what is hidden inside a piece of timber or stone.

But most of all, I enjoy knowing that something I have made may eventually become part of somebody else's story.

It might become something displayed in their home.

Something used and appreciated.

Something given as a gift.

Something connected to a personal belief or ritual.

Or simply something that makes them stop and look.

That's enough.

Because handmade objects don't need to mean the same thing to everyone.

They just need to mean something.

Meet Randy

I'm Randy Mack.

For more than 40 years, I've worked with timber, natural materials and handcrafted design across Canada and Australia.

My working life has taken me through many different industries and experiences, but creating things with my hands has remained a constant.

Handcrafted by Randy’s Woodworking began with a simple respect for the materials I work with.

Over time, that respect evolved into a broader creative journey encompassing woodworking, natural wood care, ritual-inspired art, carved stone and symbolic creations.

Everything I make carries a little of that journey with it.

Some pieces are practical.

Some are artistic.

Some are unusual.

Some are deeply connected to the stories and symbolism that inspire me.

But they all have one thing in common:

They are made by hand, with patience, purpose and respect for the natural character of the materials.

This isn't mass production.

It's craftsmanship with a story.
